👏🏼 Are We Supposed to Applaud?

Where Souls Find Sanctuary

Dear Reader,

The great thing about my relationship with Frances is that she is always giving me a new perspective. She is probably one of the most observant and reflective people I know, and with myself being someone who tends to rush from one thing to the next to “get it all done,” she is a great Yin to my Yang (The Yin-Yangs — new group name? 😅).

Case in point: her latest blog.

As a lifelong musician, I honestly never reflected much on applause other than when I should be doing it and how I should be doing it (trust me, my 8th grade general music teacher, AJ Young, TAUGHT👏🏼US👏🏼HOW👏🏼TO👏🏼CLAP!).

And when it comes to bowing and receiving applause? Same thing. I learned the mechanics of it, but never really thought about how it’s actually a connection — an act of both giving and receiving.

Me? I just do it.

Play a piece, bow, move on.

In fact, I would probably feel more awkward not bowing.

I invite you to dive a little deeper into what Frances has to say. Her musical background is far different from mine - as are our childhood experiences - but there’s this curious common thread that binds us together, and it’s part of what I love most about our relationship.

If you have any thoughts on the blog or otherwise, please feel free to reply to this email - we love hearing from you!

With gratitude,

Kirstin (and blogger Frances)

Dear ReaderHappy Father's Day to all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures in our Double Keyed community. We hope you've been enjoying a day filled with family, love and perhaps a little music! This week, we're shining a spotlight on someone who has provided a different kind of guidance throughout our musical journey - perhaps even a touch of the fatherly wisdom and encouragement that great mentors can often bring.
