🎙️ From Midwinter’s Gift to Abbey Road: Our Story on "Crushing Classical"

Where Souls Find Sanctuary

Dear Reader,

Well, here we are - in the middle of the bleak midwinter (I feel like someone should write a song about that… 🤔). On this rainy Pennsylvania day, I’m wishing for sunshine - and also remembering that sometimes we have to create our own.

Speaking of which, we recently had the pleasure of joining Jennet Ingle (oboist/entrepreneur) on her podcast Crushing Classical to share the story behind Double Keyed.

In this conversation, we talk about how we first formed as a duo, the spark that led to our debut album Midwinter’s Gift, and how that project unexpectedly opened the door to something far bigger - recording our next album with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studio One.

It’s an honest reflection on growth - how one artistic idea evolves into another, how momentum builds over time, and how a chamber project can expand into a full orchestral vision.

You can watch the full episode here:

As we shared in the episode, we’re now in the final stretch of bringing this new album fully to life. Our new crowdfunder on Give a Hand is live, and we are closing in on our goal.

We’re proud of how far this journey has taken us, and we're so grateful for the community that’s carried it forward.

If you’ve been considering supporting this project, this is a meaningful moment to step in. Every dollar is a step forward.

Next Milestone: March 1

We’ll be sharing our next update on March 1 as we head into the last month before our London departure!

With gratitude,
Kirstin & Frances

Where Souls Find Sanctuary Dear Reader, The great thing about my relationship with Frances is that she is always giving me a new perspective. She is probably one of the most observant and reflective people I know, and with myself being someone who tends to rush from one thing to the next to “get it all done,” she is a great Yin to my Yang (The Yin-Yangs — new group name? 😅). Case in point: her latest blog. As a lifelong musician, I honestly never reflected much on applause other than when I...

Where Souls Find Sanctuary Dear Reader, Frances and I are still trying to find the words. It's now been almost a month since our London Symphony and Abbey Road experience and it has certainly taken a bit to recover from not only jet-lag, but the emotional experience that London was. We are happy to share that it WAS everything we had hoped for - and more. Walking into Abbey Road, knowing that the London Symphony Orchestra was about to record the orchestral parts for our Christmas album…it...

Where Souls Find Sanctuary Dear Reader, Happy Easter, if you celebrate! To be honest, getting ready for a major holiday has been one of the last things on my mind lately. Preparing for our London trip while running life and business as usual made an Easter egg hunt and big dinner feel way down the list. Thankfully, my wonderful mother-in-law saved the day - and we had a great holiday because of it. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into a project like this—and I’m not even...
